Beginning with the 2006 calendar, The Parrots At Play Calendar will feature an educational section entitled “ Parrotrivia ”. This section is in a question and answer format. For example:
What are two physical characteristics that distinguish parrots from other types of birds?
Answer: The upper beak of the parrot is curved downward or hooked hence they are sometimes referred to as hookbills. Most birds have 4 toes. Parrots' toes are positioned 2 pointing forward and 2 in back providing them the ability to pick up objects with their feet while other birds such as chickens and finches have 3 toes pointing forward and 1 toe backwards. |
